The botanical garden of Gothenburg, with its 175 hectares, is one of Europe's largest. The cultivated part occupies approximately 40 hectares, the rest is a nature reserve.
About 16000 species are cultivated, among these are a number of important scientific plant collections, i.e. Alpines, Dionysia, Bulbous plants and temperate trees. In the gardens greenhouse you find over 4000 different plant species, including Sweden's largest collection of tropical orchids.
It’s a popular place to visit and the garden has a comprehensive annual program with different activities. The garden offer guided tours of the garden's various parts, exhibitions in the fields of botany and art, activities for children and various cultural events.
