This tour starts at our central meeting point close to Amsterdam Central Station. Here you meet your driver and guide for the day. In our comfortable, air-conditioned luxurious minivan we take you to Giethoorn in about 90 minutes. On this journey we drive through the typically Dutch ‘polder’ landscape. Polder is land that has been reclaimed from the sea and most of the land that we drive through today was a sea until the 1950s.
Once we have arrived in Giethoorn we take you on a short walking tour around some of the town's highlights. Giethoorn is definitely one of the most picturesque villages of the Netherlands and a very popular destination for visitors from all over the world. Giethoorn is often nicknamed the Venice of the North. Just like Venice, Giethoorn has many enchanting canals and the only way to get around town is by boat or walking. No cars are allowed in the old town. Marvel at the beautiful old farmhouses, cute little waterways waterways and wooden bridges. The town's history dates back to the middle ages and this wont go unnoticed. In Giethoorn it really feels like time stood still.
Your guide will reveal Giethoorn's unique character, and give you insider’s tips about great local restaurants, shops, attractions, activities and more. After the walking tour you have some free time to discover other parts of the village on your own before returning back to Amsterdam.
With your ticket you get a free Amsterdam Canal Cruise. You can take this 1 hour canal cruise on a day and time of your choice.
