World Cleanup Day Amsterdam!

2023-08-01

Cleaning the canals in Amsterdam during World Cleanup Day

Join us on a Pedal Boat (pedal boat) or Open Boat and help us clean the canals during World Cleanup Day, each year at the third Saturday of September. We will provide the Pedal Boats, Open Boats and the equipment.

World Cleanup Day is an annual initiative where events are organized all over the globe to clean up nature, cities, waters or other places. As long as trash is picked up.

So come join us for free Pedal Boats or join us on an Open Boat and help scoop the trash out of the water. Coming to help? Sign up at cleanup@stromma.nl. We start at 10:00 at our location Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (Stadhouderskade 520)

Participation is FREE

Why participate in Amsterdam?

The Amsterdam canals are on the UNESCO heritage list. Residents and tourists enjoy this beautiful and historic water in the city every day. Unfortunately, keeping them clean is a daily task. Every year the canals produce between 40,000 and 60,000 kilos of plastic, 7,000 dead animals (mainly ducks) and 12,000 bicycles. Fortunately, Waternet helps to keep the canals as clean as possible. You too can contribute to this on September 16.

It's a great way to show your commitment to Amsterdam. Maybe you're a resident of the city? Or do you find it fun or important to help clean our capital? Alone, with friends, colleagues or the family; become a supporter for two hours and participate for free. We will provide Pedal Boats and Open Boats with scoop nets and trash bags.
