The Sinebrychoff Art Museum specializes in the works of the old European masters and is built on the collection of Fanny and Paul Sinebrychoff, who donated their collection to the Finnish state in 1921. Here, you find both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The museum presents Finland's most valuable painting collection of old masters, Swedish portraits, Dutch and Flemish genre painting, as well as Italian and French paintings.
The museum’s collection also includes the two sculptures Faun and Amor by the Swedish artist Johan Tobias Sergel. It also includes a collection of more than 4000 prints, including artwork by Francisco Goya.
The building housing the museum once served as the residence of the Sinebrychoff family. Each room is decorated in a different style. The Empire Room is considered to be the finest room in the house because it contains the most valuable furniture and chandeliers, imported from the Ropsha Palace in Russia.
