The Reichstag is the current home of the German parliament. An impressive symbol of democracy, it has come to signify the marriage between old and new as well as the political and the public. Originally completed in 1849, the Reichstag has undergone a whole series of renovations and changes throughout the centuries that testify to its tumultuous past. Today, its renovated exterior houses a central glass cupola right above the parliamentary debate chamber.
With a prior registration, you are free to visit the dome and witness directly how political decisions are made. Afterwards, take a sunbath on the lawn, a popular gathering spot for Berliners and tourists alike, and literally cool off in the shadow of history.
